The Army Mapper (AM) geospatial system supports the functional implementation of the IGI&S program. The AM provides the Army enterprise access to geospatial data stored, managed and maintained centrally by installation and programmatic users and will provide a set of common functionality in support of Army business requirements. Release 1.0 included basic viewing and querying capabilities in a web map viewer, commercial GIS and CADD desktop tools available through Citrix, and a centralized data repository to support managed maintenance and archival of standardized installation data. AM 1.0 deployed both a Java-based and a .NET based Web Viewer utilizing ArcGIS Server; release 2.0 will move towards a Service Oriented Architecture to maximize code reuse. AM 2.0 will provide enhanced capabilities to support the Army’s Installation management mission by migrating existing systems and capabilities, developing business specific tools, and improving usability based on feedback from the current deployment.
