AbstractImproving Property Valuation through Geospatial Analysis of Comparison Neighborhoods Track: Cadastral and Land Records Author(s): Benjamin Hughes, Jay Mickle The Office of the Jefferson County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) is responsible for valuing property in Jefferson County, Kentucky as part of the property tax process. One of the ways the PVA makes valuing property more efficient and accurate is to group similar properties into comparison neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are analyzed by a Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system to determine the value of each property. Spatial analysis of these neighborhoods, as well as larger geographic areas that contain groups of neighborhoods, assists the PVA in improving the valuation process and leads to a more accurate assessment. This presentation will discuss the GIS and CAMA integration necessary for such analysis.
