Using GIS to Measure/Manage Benefits of Sun's OpenWork Program
Track: Benefits of GIS
Author(s): Robert Sewell, Keith Tabacek

OpenWork is Sun Microsystems' industry-leading program for supporting the mobility preferences and geographically dispersed nature of today's workforce. OpenWork is aimed at allowing employees to work from anywhere, expanding collaboration, and building stronger relationships and communities across an enterprise's distributed base of global stakeholders.

The Work Location Services - Advanced Planning & Analysis (WLS-AP&A) team of Sun's OpenWork Services Group (OSG), includes a GIS sub-team that is utilizing a variety of Esri technologies and data to measure, monitor, visualize, analyze and manage effectiveness of the OpenWork environment and workforce at Sun. This team also provides general GIS services and consulting to other areas of the company, as a means to effectively scale the business benefits and ROI of GIS, and thus enhance OSG's portfolio of work location services.

Correspondingly, this presentation demonstrates a diversity of key benefits of GIS and Esri technologies to the large business enterprise.
