AbstractIntegrated Network Design and Documentation with Network Engineer and Cramer Track: Telecommunications and Location-Based Services Author(s): Stefan Jung ARCOR is the second largest fixnet carrier in Germany. ARCOR has its own fiber network that covers the whole country and that is used to deliver voice, internet and data services to the customers. In 2007 Arcor decided to harmonize their heterogeneous GIS landscape by introducing ArcGIS and Network Engineer. With the new system all data like trenches, structures cables and equipment are stored in one central database using standard technology and out-of-the-box software components from Esri and Telcordia. Another major goal of the project was to integrate Network Engineer with the existing inventory system CRAMER. CRAMER designed as the master system at ARCOR manages the logical network including all information about the connectivity of the network. The integration of the physical network with the logical network brings up new possibilities for ARCOR to optimize the business processes for planning, design and outage management.
