GIS-Based Service for Reliability/Risk Management of Datacenters and IT Assets

Sun Microsystems is utilizing GIS and Esri technologies in architecting new services for enhanced risk and reliability management of datacenters and IT assets.
Key to this effort is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between SunCARE (Sun's Customer Analytics for Risk/Reliability Engineering) -- a team of reliability experts within Sun's Global Sales and Services (GSS) organization, and Sun's GIS team in Work Location Services - Advanced Planning & Analysis (WLS-AP&A) within Sun's OpenWork Service Group (OSG), in conjunction with professional services support from Esri and the Esri Enterprise Advantage Program (EEAP).
The presentation provides background on leading-edge methods of IT reliability analysis developed by SunCARE and of risk assessment employed by WLS-AP&A, and discusses the motivation, approach, and advantage for incorporating GIS into the new service offering.
Importantly, the presentation is a case-in-point illustration of the unique opportunity and value proposition for combining leading special-purpose analysis methodologies with leading GIS technologies/services.
