Implementation of EPRI-GTC Overhead Transmission Line Siting Methodology

This presentation describes the implementation of the EPRI-GTC methodology (Technical Report 1013080) for siting overhead transmission lines. The methods are discussed in the framework of a project requiring quick decisions within permitting schedules, rapid evaluations, and remodeling of transmission line corridors. The overall implementation followed the EPRI-GTC methods but adaptations were made for practical purposes and data constraints. Several models were constructed that included the Cost functions within Spatial Analyst. End results included transmission line macro corridors, alternative micro corridors, and a preferred route.
