The aim of this study is to determine runoff volume of the Ashti sub-basin of River Godavari by SCS Curve Number using GIS. While determining the results various data sets such as IRS AWiFS satellite image, 1:50000 standard topographic map, drainage map of Ashti and soil map data. Standard 1:500000 are used. AWiFS image is classified by using digital image techniques for extracting Land Use and Land Cover and integrated into GIS with hydrological soil map. Soil Conservation Curve Number method is used to determine Curve Numbers and runoff volume distribution of the basin area. The runoff volume maps obtained in the GIS show that, remote sensing and GIS technology are suitable for analysis of the runoff volume distribution of the basin area. The proposed method can be applied to predict for ungaged watersheds, flood, and other water resource applications.
