AbstractUsing ArcGIS Server to Support Decision Making at NATO Headquarters Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Virginia Estévez Adán, Scott Ward Following the need to adapt the current geospatial capabilities of NATO to others more in consonance with the new challenges that the Alliance is facing, the Situation Centre (SITCEN) of NATO Headquarters decided to enlarge its geospatial support to the staff of this headquarters by providing a GIS web service. As more data becomes available and data storing capacities grow, so do the requirements and expectations of the users. This is critical at NATO Headquarters where the key-users, responsible to plan and monitor future and current operations, need to get access to comprehensive in-depth information in an accurate, guaranteed and timely fashion. This presentation provides an outline of what decisions were made to implement this solution, in particular on security and technical matters, shows examples of the current geospatial and operational data on line, and reveals the future development plans for the integration of new data and services.
