AbstractExperiences in Modeling of River Flood Flows Track: Water Resources Author(s): Damir Bekic, Eamon McKeogh The paper presents experiences in modelling of flood flows of the River Blackwater in Mallow (Ireland). Hec-Ras and Hec-GeoRas models were utilised to compute flood levels on a 2280 m long river reach on a complex urban terrain. Two separate Hec-Ras models were built on the basis of two survey data sets. The data set for the first model included cross-sections with less detail survey information. Model calibration was on the basis of water level observations on a few locations along the reach. For the second model detail terrain and single beam bathymetry survey were initially collected, after which detailed DEM and Hec-GeoRas model were built. The second Hec-Ras model was calibrated after discharge and water level surveys for several different flow events.
