GIS for Automation of H&H Production
Track: Water Resources
Author(s): Erin Atkinson

GIS has been automating the hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling process for over a decade now. Automation typically implies that a process can be done faster, but the overall H&H study process still takes about the same amount of time. This paper looks at the H&H tasks that have been automated with GIS; the good, the bad, and the ugly of using GIS for H&H production; and attempts to explain why the overall modeling process still takes the same amount of time.
