Spatial Data Standard Facilities, Infrastructure & Environment (SDSFIE): 3.0
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Marc Beckel

As of mid-2009, the Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) was released for the DOD IGI&S user community as a Logical Data Model-based (LDM) standard. This presentation will review the latest Release 3.0, the Data Model and how the Esri user is best supported, and the suite of SDSFIE Release tools available to all DOD users via the web (www.sdsfie.org). The STARS Team worked closely with government Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the DISDI Group leaders to develop the standard and data model based on a “one feature, one definition” concept. The new suite of web-based tools allows the user community to migrate data, generate compliant databases, and “adapt” the SDSFIE to ensure that each user has a place for their data while maintaining the full effectiveness of the standard. The SDSFIE tools will also support the creation of physical implementations, which include the Esri platform.
