Abstract

Thiess Spatial - A Blueprint for Construction
Track: Surveying
Author(s): Jason Clark

The adoption of location intelligence capabilities at an enterprise level continues to demonstrate significant efficiencies at all phases of infrastructure projects. This GIS centric approach in the tendering, design, construction and operational phase provides organisations the capability to seamlessly access all project related data across teams and geographies.

Thiess’ Airport Link, Australia’s largest road infrastructure project, has a demanding set of requirements for information flows into, and out of, the Enterprise GIS. To achieve this, a Web GIS has been deployed to grant the whole project team the fastest access to spatial information, geo-processing capabilities and the integration of spatially-enabled aspatial data.

Discussion focuses on the contribution an enterprise GIS makes to the overall project objectives and outlines how throughout the project lifecycle it facilitates better monitoring and management. Specifically, discussion is presented on the benefits managers can realise with dashboard reporting and data visualisation enabled through the adopted technologies.
