The Arc Hydro MODFLOW Data Model
Track: Water Resources
Author(s): Norm Jones

The Arc Hydro MODFLOW Data Model is a geodatabase design that supports the integration of MODFLOW models into the ArcGIS environment, including spatial and temporal registration of the model inputs and results. The data model enables querying, visualization, and analysis of MODFLOW simulations with standard GIS functionality. The data model consists of feature classes to support the grid geometry and tables to support all of the main packages and input data associated with MODFLOW simulations. Advanced tools built on top of the data model classes enable importing MODFLOW models from text files, building package inputs from GIS features, creating visualizations of the model data, and exporting edited data to native MODFLOW text files. The data model and associated tools are being used to develop new applications to visualize and distribute MODFLOW data as well as applications that automate groundwater management tasks such as well permitting.
