Abstract

Transportation Modeling and Climate Change Analysis
Track: Climate Change
Author(s): Christopher Gray

Transportation is a critical element of a Climate Action Plan, particularly in Southern California. Mr. Gray led the analysis of transportation for the Irvine Climate Action Plan. He will describe the challenges of assembling data, understanding important assumptions, selecting the most appropriate modeling tools, and identifying the most relevant subset of results to inform the City’s emissions reduction planning efforts. These efforts resulted in a consistent foundation of spatial and temporal transportation information that explicitly partitions between local and regional activities.
