AbstractToward Structured Business GIS Credentials—Panel Discussion Track: Business GIS Author(s): Shelli Stockton, Monica Perry, Fred Miller, Grant Thrall, Tony Hernandez As Business GIS technologies mature and emerge as mainstream tools of business decision making, institutions of higher education are seeking out ways to integrate them into their curricula. Beyond general orientation for managers, institutions are beginning to serve students and businesses by developing credentialed clusters of Business GIS skills that directly serve the needs of organizations embracing Business GIS technologies. Their goal is to match the structure of Business GIS programs with the skill set sought by organizations pioneering this movement. This panel includes representatives of institutions who have created such programs, organizations who are seeking graduates with Business GIS skills and Esri representatives who are involved in this process. The session will cover current programs, other potential models, and opportunities for collaboration among participants in structuring and offering credential programs.
