AbstractSDREGIN—Regional Collaboration and Interoperability for Emergency ResponseTrack: Homeland Security Author During the past several years, emergency management agencies within the San Diego region have experienced an increased need to improve their ability to respond to disaster situations and improve communication between organizations involved in emergency response, mitigation, planning, and recovery. As a result, the San Diego Regional Emergency Geospatial Information Network (SDREGIN) has been funded through the Department of Homeland Security Urban Areas Security Initiative to establish a comprehensive design, implementation, maintenance, and security plan that will focus on developing a regional geospatial technology framework and establish a regional GIS data interoperability program. This presentation explains how SDREGIN will connect local jurisdictions, public agencies, and utilities to the regional geospatial database through a network that serves the needs of public safety personnel both on a day-to-day basis and during catastrophic emergency events.
