AbstractNYC Infrastructure Distribution Dataset: Complex System, Simplistic Update ManagementTrack: Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water Author The City of New York has one of the largest and most intricate infrastructure distribution systems in the world. However creating and maintaining its geometric dataset is not as complex as its real world counterpart. This Proof of concept shows that a complex set of tools is not required to build or maintain such a network. The goal was not to be 'tied down' to custom applications which would require additional long term support. In this presentation I will demonstrate how tools available on line where used to create and maintain the data. Usage of geometric rules, attribute transfer, and spatial joins. How using spatial views in SDE can overcome privilege restrictions, and minimize creating multiple annotation feature classes. After demonstrating that you can maintain this data without major custom applications, we will show how we are able to use the Esri supported Utilities Toolset as an alternative. gary leunis NYC DEP 5917 junction blvd 10th Fl OIT corona, New York 11368 United States Phone: 7185955776 E-mail: gleunis@dep.nyc.gov |
