Developing a Web Based Bicycle Trip Planner.

The Sacramento Area Council Of Governments is working on a bicycle trip planner using funding from a CMAQ grant. The web based application incorporates street centerline and bike-only roads to create a network the bike trip planner will use to route bicycles from origin to destination locations. A bike classification system coded into the centerline file will enable the routing solution to utilize bike only facilities with streets that incorporate bike lanes and routes. The application consists as a mashup utilizing javascript, google maps API, and ArcServer, that allows the user to enter addresses or points of interest to generate routes with directions.
