How GIS-Infused Mobile Solutions Help Local Governments Meet Tough Challenges

Local governments under enormous pressures to do more with less. New GIS-infused mobile solutions are helping fill staffing and budget gaps by empowering field-based teams with access to the same data, maps and UI as office staff, enabling maximum productivity from the field. Users are boosting efficiency with mashups of their Esri maps and Bing maps to view tasks geographically and optimize their daily routes - saving fuel costs and improving response time. Accela GIS Product Manager Brian Wienke will showcase how McAllen, Tex., Westminster, Colo., and Charlotte County., Fla., leverage both Esri and Accela solutions to up-level their services: McAllen for disaster response; Westminster for system-wide checks of their utility assets; and Charlotte County for inspections. All link Accela-based data with Esri GIS - enabling management to spatially map out dispersal of maintenance and inspection teams, and workers to access data where/when needed.
