AbstractMaintaining Aviation Assets - The 'FieldPort' ApproachTrack: Transportation Author The City of Phoenix Aviation Department has developed a unique field application for work order management. The business objective is to complete mandatory FAA Part 139 Airfield inspections in real-time. The scope of the FieldPort application has been expanded to encompass any general work order activity. The application is built upon ArcGIS Server Mobile 9.3.1 and SAP R/3. The application is designed to work in the field using a 3G Cellular modem connection and will function in an occasionally disconnected state. The FieldPort architecture is designed around Microsoft's Windows Communication Foundation framework and leverages sync technology to reconcile information stored on the client in a SQL Compact Edition database with enterprise GIS and SAP. Future plans for the FieldPort application include integration with the Department's Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server as well as real time mapping of field crews.
