AbstractA Web-based GIS Application for Redlands Civilian Volunteer PatrolTrack: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Author The City of Redlands Police Department utilizes citizen volunteer patrols to aid in their efforts of keeping the city safe and sound. This civilian police force has the ability to conduct patrols and work public events in the city. Currently they receive assignments based on availability. But with a web-based GIS application, the civilian volunteer patrol will have a secure, straightforward method of accessing regular patrol assignments. This paper discusses the approaches taken to create the web-based application, as well as different functions the application uses to facilitate effective and efficient distribution of information from the officers to the civilian volunteer patrol.
