AbstractImplementing a GIS/ECM Based Public Utility CSR Tracking System Track: Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water Author The integration of technologies such as GIS and enterprise content management (ECM) can be extremely powerful in creating interactive and automated tools for enabling public utility agencies to improve customer service. JMT is developing integrated GIS/ECM solutions for the City of Baltimore Department of Public Works, Bureau of Water and Wastewater including a web-based GIS application built with Esri ArcGIS Server and its web mapping API known as UView. UView provides end users with direct access to content such as engineering drawings, specifications and sewer/stormwater connection cards. The objective of this solution is to create time and cost savings to the Bureau by delivering relevant content directly to the user's desktop instead of the user having to search through paper storage. The ECM integration delivers critical document and records management and automated workflow functionality to the user, further extending the utility of the GIS application as a business intelligence tool.
