AbstractBusiness case for an integrated infrastructure and geo-spatial management systemTrack: Public Works Author At regional and local government, 85% of the data and information managed has geospatial location reference points and has significant tangible value. More than 85% of assets owned by these levels of government are land and infrastructure (i.e. roads, water and waste water services, buildings, bridges, transit systems, etc.) related. Over 70% of the citizen inquiries and service requests received and acted upon relate to municipal infrastructure. And the largest portion of future capital investments relates to addressing maintenance, upgrade, growth and strategic needs for infrastructure. The business case for an integrated infrastructure and geo-spatial management system to the support infrastructure asset management life cycle, land development process, budget and valuation plus citizen / public engagement is obvious; or is it? The City of Calgary has rich history of successful geo-spatial and infrastructure management initiatives; this is our next chapter. Terry Wong The City of Calgary P.O.
