AbstractMobile GIS Solutions for Water AgenciesTrack: Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water Author Many water agencies are faced with the challenge of locating infrastructures and needing access to facility mapping information. The inability for field crews to make informed decision is costly and inefficient. Cachuma Operation and Maintenance Board, (COMB)a Joint Powers Authority operating and maintaining 26 miles of the South Coast Conduit, has been facing this challenge for some time. COMB explored many possible solutions and software packages for this problem, and the solution came in the form of Field Mapplet, built on top of Esri technology. Bridging the gap between analog media and digital representation in the field is now a reality for COMB. The mobile solution would not have been possible without the core components of the COMB GIS system, which provided the building blocks for the mobile GIS system. The history of GIS at COMB and the transition to mobile GIS will be discussed.
