AbstractEnterprise Approach for the Design of Jamaica's GeoPortalTrack: Spatial Data Infrastructure Author Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) is a framework that includes the computer technologies, polices and people necessary to promote the sharing of geospatial information throughout all levels of government. Fundamental to the establishment of a SDI is the creation of a GeoPortal to facilitate the discovery and consumption of geographic resources across a network. GeoPortal implementation requires careful planning. Planning must take into consideration several issues that govern the storage, management, Integration and dissemination of geospatial data. This paper will explore the technological and data sharing issues involved in the design and creation of Jamaica's GeoPortal. The paper will put forward an EnterpriseGIS approach framework for the design of the country's Geospatial Portal. This framework is built on Esri's ArcGIS Server and GeoPortal Extension technology. The framework will also help to transform and improve the quality of service the Government of Jamaica offers to its internal and external customers Damian Graham Spatial Innovision Ltd. 22 Annette Crescent Kingston 10 Kingston, Kingston 00000 Jamaica Phone: 876-969-2239 Fax: 876-755-1843 E-mail: gis@spatialvision.com |
