AbstractNational Geodetic Survey's CORS Network and Online Positioning User ServiceTrack: Surveying Author NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) has developed a nationwide network of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) reference stations in support of a broad spectrum of GNSS positioning applications. This Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network comprises about 1400 permanent, geodetic-quality GNSS receivers. CORS GNSS observational data are freely provided to the user community via the Internet and are capable of supporting high-accuracy positioning requirements and research and operational science applications. An extension of the CORS network, the Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) is an automated utility that processes submitted GPS observation data with respect to the CORS network and provides the results via email. This powerful tool has proven to be very popular with the geospatial community and is changing the way NGS is able to provide access to the National Spatial Reference System. This presentation will discuss the evolution, status, and future plans of the CORS network and OPUS.
