Management of Police Resources with Crime Incident Mapping
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice

Project Need: SVPD management desires a dynamic mapping application for displaying events of previous 24 hours. The incident locations and any spatial patterns will aid police management in identifying areas for specific crimes so that preventive measures and resources can be strategically allocated.
Project Result: Development of a GIS Web Map that updates crime incident data every hour.
Project Summary: GIS provides a visual tool for decision making and resource management.
Project Resources: GIS staff utilizing ArcMap and ArcGIS Server automated with Python script to refresh incident data from CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system.
