Abstract

Image Derived Models, Comparative Analysis-Different Remote Sensing Platforms, Coal Mining
Track: Mining and Geosciences
Authors: Aldo Plascencia

This paper will demonstrate the results of a Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) study to illustrate the accuracy of image derived Digital Elevation Models (DEM) from different remote sensing platforms.

The DEM analytical processes, product results, and resulting precision and accuracy will be compared. A comparative analysis will be presented of the derived DEM's and the applied use of this data to support decision making related to OSM's mission of implementing the Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation Act.
