AbstractSelect Ontario—Leveraging Esri Technology for Innovative Economic DevelopmentTrack: State and Local Government Author Ontario's Ministry of Economic Development & Trade (MEDT) developed a solution that was as unique as the investment opportunities in the Province itself. Select Ontario provides an adaptable web-based portal for potential business investors and site selectors that is targeted specifically to them. Leveraging the power of Esri's ArcGIS Server, combined with Rolta's OnPointT Enterprise, users can utilize extensive adaptive search capabilities to take the results of one search as the starting point for subsequent searches. Rather than using outdated fixed workflows to force the user to orient their search down one sequence of steps, MEDT's solution navigates a complex mix of criteria, multiple data sources, and alternative analysis that results in quick and targeted results. The built-in language capabilities support both English and French. The end result is a distinctive site that features the economic development opportunities throughout Ontario and provides comprehensive access to relevant information.
