Abstract

The National Guard Common Operational Picture in JIEE
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Todd Barr

The Joint Information Exchange Environment (JIEE) program is a component of the NGB's Joint CONUS Communications Support Environment (JCCSE) initiative supporting Homeland Defense/Civil Support information sharing for the NGB's Joint Operations Coordination Center (JoCC) and all the various State Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ-S). It has been instrumental in coordinating National Guard response efforts for natural disasters and national security events. JIEE's internal mapping capability allows non GIS users to generate geospatial data either by adding an Event/ Mission or through the Layer Manager. This data can then viewed on Situation or Detail map or consumed as a feed to an external viewer or application via a GeoRSS or KML feed. Additionally, the Geospatial Information Center (GIC) provides an environment that allows the states and other actors to share data. The GIC supports data downloads, or directs users to KML and GEORSS feeds to the consumption of data.
