Abstract

The Role of GIS in Indiana National Guard Domestic Operations
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Christina McCullough

The State of Indiana has a strong heritage of being pioneers in the use of GIS for countless objectives at the state, county, metropolitan, and local levels. The Indiana National Guard has also continued to add to this GIS heritage through their very aggressive partnering activities across the state agencies, as well as with federal agencies as well. This presentation will include an overview of the historical and current many and varied uses of geospatial information resources for the Indiana National Guard mission, to include domestic operations. The presentation will include a discussion of critical success factors that have contributed to their many effects-based outcomes from GIS, as well as those that remain unfulfilled if states are to achieve the desired GeoGuard vision for the State of Indiana.
