Abstract

Reforming Economic Development (and Fighting Sprawl) with Effective Maps
Track: State and Local Government
Authors: Phil Mattera

Jobs are a red-hot topic these days; public officials are under terrific pressure to create and retain them. So tax breaks and other economic development incentives to stimulate the economy are getting a lot of attention. Maps and GIS technology have been instrumental in conducting sprawl analysis and understanding the impacts of subsidized job relocations.
