The U.S. Army Sustainable Range Program (SRP) is responsible for developing and maintaining geospatial data for all U.S. Army training areas. In order to maximize investment in GIS and ensure data interoperability between Army departments and organizations, all SRP GIS data must conform to the Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE) data format. To enforce this standard the Training Capabilities Manager (TCM- Live) published the Army Geospatial Data Strategy memorandum requiring all SRP GIS databases to adhere to the Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) developed by the U.S Army SRP Geospatial Support Center at Ft. A.P. Hill. The QAPs list mandatory feature classes and attributes, along with spatial accuracy and metadata requirements in order for SRP GIS data to pass quality control. This briefing presents an array of GIS tools and processes used by US Army Europe SRP GIS Analysts to ensure their data complies with this standard.
