Abstract

Tualatin Watershed Drinking Water Source Protection and Restoration GIS Tool
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Bob Heuer

The Trust for Public Land in partnership with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Water Quality Division has developed a GIS-based tool that identifies the healthy lands within the Tualatin watershed most important for conservation of water quality and to identify the impaired lands that ought to be restored to help protect water quality.
Using model builder, The Trust for Public Land designed a GIS tool that will allow Oregon DEQ to replicate the Tualatin work across other watersheds in Oregon, helping communities identify where to invest limited resources in order to meet multiple land protection and restoration goals.
In addition, an interactive online mapping site has been created providing the Tualatin partners and stakeholders the opportunity to view and query analysis results and generate custom reports.
