Abstract

Conservation Almanac and National Conservation Easement Database -Accountability Through GIS
Track: Environmental Management
Authors: Breece Robertson

The Conservation Almanac and the National Conservation Easement Database(NCED) will allow federal, state and private users valuable information for conservation planning.

The Almanac allows you to analyze markets for transactions; find out which public agencies spend money where; what's the average price of land being paid; and locate conserved lands by county. This comprehensive online resource has an advanced mapping feature, including parcel-level views of acquisitions and conservation spending.

NCED is a public-private partnership to create the first national database of conservation easement information that includes both GIS spatial data and attributes describing easements. NCED can be used to locate easements in your city, county, or state and overlay maps of conservation priorities, habitat types or other conservation data sets with conservation easements. This session will inform attendees on how to access conservation easement data, how to get involved and also engage participants in a discussion to review database development.
