To conduct transportation planning and planning analysis the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC-MPO) relies heavily on GIS data from member agencies. The process of acquiring the most current data, merging the data layers, and adding any necessary planning information is required at the beginning of any planning exercise. This process is time consuming and often leads to multiple files with much of the same data. The Transportation Environment Land Use Data Enterprise (TELUDE) is an end-to-end solution developed in house by DCHC-MPO on the ArcGIS Server platform deploying Esri's Flex Viewer API. TELUDE provides automatically updated information in a simple to use and interactive interface. In addition to viewing data, end users can run queries, create maps and download the data for offline use. Another aspect of TELUDE is to provide a direct a web service that clients can consume in their local applications.
