Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Authors: Antonella Carbone

SIRS, the Secure Rome Integrated System, has been developed by a Working Team of Experts of the Security Department of Rome City Council. SIRS supports strategic programs for crime prevention, risk management, road accident investigation and offers high-technology Web-GIS solutions for setting up, updating and sharing the Risk and Crime Map of Rome. The system is based on the ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, integrated with Location Intelligence solutions in order to obtain a significant improvement of information asset analysis and exploitation. The use of GIS technology has provided effective, and labor-saving solutions, as well as produced good results in terms of efficiency, support in decision making and, most importantly, enhancing urban security.
The ultimate goal of SIRS is to create a dynamic map usable by all the competent authorities to pursue risk prevention and to promote legality.
