Tools for Geo-Processing, Displaying and Publishing netCDF Data

The Royal Australian Navy has developed a suite of tools for accessing, processing, displaying and publishing custom netCDF files through ArcGIS. This 'under the hood' presentation will explain and demonstrate these tools through:

· subsetting netCDF files, containing numerical forecast model data from atmospheric, wave and ocean models, on a remote THREDDS server;
· using python geoprocessing scripts to convert the subset netCDF data to a file Geodatabase;
· displaying the data via a custom ArcGIS Desktop toolbar; and
· publishing the data as a Web Map Service using ArcGIS Server
The planned extension of the system to include Web Processing Services will also be discussed.
