Abstract

Biography: The Journey of an Historical Aerial Image through Time
Track: Imagery
Authors: Zachary Adkins

Have you ever considered what a single piece of historical imagery goes through to become, or to spawn, valuable geographic information in the present day? This presentation will document the travels of a single aerial photograph from the 1950's and show its present day real world use and value. The briefing will focus on the concept of digitally and geospatially enabling historical data due to present day archival, access, and use needs. It will demonstrate that the life cycle and value of geographic data could, in some ways, be considered to be infinite.
