This case discusses the use of ArcGIS9.3 at the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies as a tool to support a local master plan, promoting a refined diagnosis about the Parliament built space (8 buildings, 150.000m2, 30.000 people, land use diversity). Identified advantages: precise information control, graphical analysis spatially based and strategies for modeling spaces. For the selected variables, analysis considered density mapping, three-dimensional buildings modeling and routes simulation (safety/logistic purposes). Findings pointed great spatial disparities, unsuitable room's displacements, excessive distances among unities and inappropriate routes. Regarding the software, are to be highlighted the quality of results, the production of friendly layouts and the easy comprehension of spatial information for directors. It is believed that the Chamber of Deputies, regarding its dynamics, complexity and social meaning, by assuming procedures to develop the comprehension of its built space, may convert itself into a reference to enhance space analysis and quality in complex buildings.
