Track: Mining and Geosciences

Geospatial tools and digital databases were applied to research fluvial and karst relief of Florida. Geostatistical population approach was used to derive morfometric parameters based on standardized samples of karst and fluvial topography. Morphometric and volumetric effects of the two geomorphologic processes were analyzed and statisticaly compared for the entire study area and diferentially for hypsometric intervals of paleo-marine terraces. Results of volumetric analysis were geochronologicaly related to paleo-marine terraces to derive rates of fluvial erosion and karst denudation during geomorphological evolution of Florida. Quantitative results obtained in the GIS environment were compared with theoretical models and empirical results of other studies for verification and evaluation of suitability of GIS in quantitative geomorphological analysis.
