Abstract

Viewing Dredging Data With Online Maps
Track: Charting and Data Collecting

Under the Corps of Engineers' program for enterprise GIS to support dredging data (CE-Dredge), a single mapping application has been developed to compile various data sources into a single map. Using Microsoft Silverlight and ArcGIS Server technology, the US Army Corps of Engineers is now able to provide a dynamic map displaying a variety dredge-related information. Use of the CE-Dredge Map Viewer is focused on enabling engineers to answer common business line questions, such as When to dredge?, Where to dredge?, Where to place material?, What are the alternatives to dredging?, and What is the dredge availability? The application design fully supports enterprise architecture, as it connects to data hosted by participating CE-Dredge Districts and other agencies where public data is distributed using web services.
