Abstract

Tenure Management using ArcGIS Server
Track: Mining and Geosciences
Authors: Rupa Mukherjee, Andrea Frustaci

Teck is Canada's largest diversified mining company with interests in 13 mines located in Canada, the USA, Chile and Peru. In March 2010, Teck initiated a project to consolidate land tenure information.

The primary goal of the project was to implement a centralized, flexible solution built on a standardized platform, and capable of being integrated with other corporate systems (enterprise GIS, accounting and records management). FlexiCadastre, a mineral tenure management solution has been deployed within an existing ArcGIS server infrastructure to deliver a GIS enabled web application. This solution provides increased accessibility to critical tenure information, agreements and obligations.

The implementation process has allowed Teck to identify existing gaps between corporate systems and improved global
land management efficiencies through procedure simplification. The system is in use today and continues to be enhanced
and expanded to new jurisdictions. This presentation will discuss some of the challenges and benefits of this project.
