drinking water companies in the netherlands generate and utilize a wide variety of different types of geodata. in order to facilitate data usage and transferability at the drinking water company dunea, this geodata is stored in the oracle spatial enterprise geodatabase. applications used include arcgis for the management and analysis of hydrological data, nature conservation areas and flora and fauna, smallworld for management of distribution infrastructure and antocad for management of production infrastructure.
the oracle spatial enterprise database integrates the various types of geodata and provides a platform for viewing and inquiries. rules governing the relations between the different oracle schemes allow all applications to use all forms of the geodata. the results are used for presentation of pipelines to contractors, creating thematical plots as well as communication to customers and local/national authorities. using examples, the geo-information architecture of the drinking water company dunea will be presented.
