One of the EUSC greatest challenges is to deliver accurate and reliable geoint products to a wide range of users, from decision makers in Brussels to a soldier in the field. Such a heterogeneous field of stakeholders often produces conflicting requirements in terms of data models, formats and procedures. Starting with the development of a data model based on nato standards, its implementation in the geodatabase and customization of ArcMap's editing interface to incorporate ideas taken from plts, the presentation will provide a perspective of the comprehensive approach taken by EUSC to produce a win-win solution that satisfied all user requirements and increased productivity by 40%. Key lessons, such as the idea of making the data schema independent from the editing workflow, are currently being applied to upgrade the custom editing tools to ArcGIS 10 and improve interoperability by accomodating MGCP structure
