Abstract

Generating Air Maneuver Networks for Unmanned Aircraft
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Jay Johnson

The Air Maneuver Network engine is a new component of the Battlespace Terrain Reasoning and Awareness (BTRA) extension to the Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (CJMTK). It generates networks based upon flight level requirements, topography, swath size, airspace restrictions, and a user-customizable mechanism for assigning military value to the landscape. Weather effects are also factored in. Attributes of network edges include total visible military value, IR probability of detection for each target type and forecast time, weather impacts on the platform, and time-dependent airspace restrictions.
