USING GIS TO ASSIST LICENSING PROGRAM

The licensing program is the set of areas proposed to including in licensing rounds for oil and gas exploration activities. Our company assists the program for Russian Ministry of Natural Resources by analyzing of the licensing blocks alignments in areas of production activities (we call them as a Production Centres). The key aspects of optimal blocks alignments are the resources estimates and the location around the existing and planned transportation infrastructure. We are using GIS tools such as Cost Surface creation and Least-Cost Path analysis to define most appropriate licensing blocks concern to combination of their resource's potential and proximity to transportation utilities. The presentation will show a case study in area of Russian North-West.
