2010 Winter Olympics - Role of GIS Technology

Public safety and security agencies are participated in the multi-jurisdictional 2010 Tiger Team to address geospatial requirements for 2010 Olympics security planning. In meeting the above challenge, 2010 Tiger Team identified the need to acquire data from different levels of governments and other organizations in Metro Vancouver. This allowed the security agencies to have the most up to date spatial information to support a wide variety of analysis, planning, reconnaissance and response efforts related to security of 2010 Games. The presentation will discuss the data collection, integration, and use in planning for the 2010 Games. In addition the presentation will discuss the local, provincial and federal collaboration and partnership in providing geospatial information for the security of the 2010 Games.
