Abstract

Supporting Federal and State Regional Planning Efforts through GIS
Track: Federal Applications and Enterprise Management
Authors: Charles Hamilton, Gabe Lovasz

The Western Regional Partnership mission is to provide a proactive and collaborative framework for senior-policy level Federal, State and Tribal leadership to identify common goals and emerging issues in the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah and to develop solutions that support WRP Partners and protect natural resources, while promoting sustainability, homeland security and military readiness. The WRP addresses these challenges through a focused committee structure (GIS, Energy, Land Use, Wildlife Corridors, Border, Tribal Relations and Disaster Preparedness). To aid planning efforts using a single visualization and mapping platform, the WRP has developed the WRP Mapping Application which utilizes ESRI's ArcGIS Server platform and datasets provided through the MCIWest Regional GIS database and the WRP's Federal and State partners. The system is maintained by the Marine Corps' West Coast GIS/IT support branch, GeoFidelis West and ManTech International Corporation. For more information see: www.wrpinfo.org.
