The NASA-Wide Institutional Portal is a GIS-based tool that provides consolidated access to data sets related to facility master planning, environmental, cultural resource management, and emergency management to improve situational awareness of location-based issues for NASA Headquarters and interested Center personnel. The portal is enhanced as ESRI technology evolves to leverage the ability for users to add attachments to data sets and to make feature edits. The application makes external connections to different databases used by NASA personnel and pulls dynamic data into the portal that can be visualized, identified, and classified to enhance the user experience. Common applications of the portal include site consideration, quick measurements of areas and distances, consolidated data access, and customized queries of agency data sets such as buildings and master planning layers.
